I'll be honest: I didn't vote. Not because of voter apathy or a desire to stick various things to/in "the man," but rather because I had classes from 10:05 to 2:30 and work from 3:30 to 11:00, and those times precluded me from going to a polling station (9:30 AM - 9:30 PM). If I had had the forethought to see that coming, I'd've voted NDP, though, on the grounds that I'd only vote otherwise (e.g., Liberal) if the local Liberal were in a tight race with the Conservatives. If he were likely to either win or lose by a wide margin, or if he were in a race with the NDP, I'd vote them. As for Communists, they might get my vote in future, but not before I do a lot more thinking about a) political fundamentalism (not just of a right-wing religious nature, but any extreme), b) their actual platform, and c) whether strategic voting is ethically sound or not.
My basic idea, vis a vis communism, is to just try socialism and go from there.
I'm not sure what riding you have, but the Ottawa East Liberals were in a tight race with the Conservatives.
The existence of strategic voting are not the fault of the voters. I will stick up endlessly for Nader 2000, but I voted Liberal this time because I thought I had to.

Hugs and kisses,
Simon:
Don't you get some legal voting-time rights?
